Ontario Broader Public Sector (OBPS) Policies
The Broader Public Sector (BPS) refers to organizations that receive funding from the Government of Ontario. Niagara Support Services (NSS) is a transfer payment* agency receiving funding from the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services to provide services to people with developmental disabilities.
*Transfer payments are provided to individuals (e.g., recipients of disability support payments), and external organizations (e.g., public hospitals, nonprofit organizations). Ministries and provincial agencies are accountable for transfer payments and must exercise appropriate oversight of transfer payment activities.
As an agency that receives $10M or more annually, NSS is responsible to adhere to the rules that govern accountability and transparency for the BPS as set out in directives issued under the Broader Public Sector Accountability Act.
