In 2003, the Board of Directors of Niagara Support Services established a memorial arboretum, not only as a living monument to our 50 years of service, but most importantly to those who were part of our history, and to those who want to support our mission for the future.

Located at our Kalar Road site in Niagara Falls, the arboretum began by planting 50 trees (one for each year of operation) and continues to grow.

To plant a tree is a gift of generosity and kindness and a worthy way to celebrate special occasions and pay tribute to life’s many milestones. For example, you can plant trees to celebrate:

  • Loved ones living or deceased
  • Births
  • Graduations
  • Other special occasions

When you plant a tree in memory of a loved one, or to mark a special occasion, you contribute to a healthier environment and provide for future generations. As the tree grows and prospers, so does the meaning of your gift. Your trees will be honourable monuments, and for decades to come, active participants in nature’s plan. The arboretum has a lovely winding pathway that is wheelchair accessible with a variety of species of trees, both coniferous and deciduous.

A thriving tree benefits everyone in this and future generations, and is perhaps the most fitting memorial of all. It can carry forward the name of those memorialized in a living, vital way that grows grander with the years.
